FASTinov participated in the XII congress of the Portuguese Society of Clinical Pathology, held in Figueira da Foz from 2 to 4 March 2023. The event brought together clinical-pathology professionals to discuss current diagnostic challenges and the future of laboratory medicine.
A sponsored scientific symposium
FASTinov supported a symposium focused on the clinical and organizational implications of faster antimicrobial susceptibility testing. The programme brought together three speakers who approached the subject from different perspectives.
- The clinical challenges of sepsis and the need for earlier actionable information.
- The technological principles behind FASTinov’s two-hour susceptibility tests.
- Early hospital experience and the practical implications of introducing ultra-rapid AST into routine workflows.
Connecting technology and implementation
The congress presentation positioned rapid AST as more than an instrument-development problem. It explored how a faster result could change laboratory organization, clinical communication and the timing of targeted treatment decisions.
FASTinov developed ultra-rapid phenotypic antibiotic susceptibility tests for bloodstream infections, using patented technologies intended to produce an antibiogram in less than two hours.
